I absolutely love that Sealaska Heritage Institute is finding new ways to teach our language to the youth. They have a Latseen Hoop Camp [latseen means Strength in Tlingit]. They take this opportunity to not only get kids active but to teach them Tlingit words in a way that will stick. It is a painless way to learn. I’m all for passive learning. The book and classroom way is good but you have to apply it in other ways if you want to get things committed to memory.
