It didn’t occur to me until the time of Green Lantern movie that the vision of Amanda Waller was changing. She’s the most prominent woman of color in the DC universe. She is a commanding figure. Her background suggest that she has earned everything she has through hardwork.  Casting of Angela Bassett in my opinion didn’t feel like a match.

It seems like Amanda gets younger and thinner as the new iterations of her character are produced. What are they trying to say by this move? Are they trying to promote a healthy lifestyle or does every woman who has a significant comic book role have to fit American movie standards of beauty?

Who do you think should have been cast as Amanda Waller if they were sticking closer to the early versions of her character?
