In the most recent episode of the Syfy series Bitten there was a flashback moment of how Clay and Elena first interacted. Clay is a professor who needs an assistant. Elena is the applicant who won’t take no for an answer. He clearly doesn’t think she’s qualified and asks her a trick question to trip her up. He asks:
“For starters, other than my book do you have any experience in anthropomorphic religions?”…
“How do you spell Tlingit? “
Elena didn’t find that too funny but I sure did. Being a Tlingit I know what a tricky word it is and have seen and heard many misspellings and pronunciations. I’m interested in how they plan on how much more Tlingit culture will work its way into the series Bitten. “You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention” I will be more focused the next time I watch an episode. Listening for more mentions and looking for more hat-tips toward the culture.
