When you grow up with a mixed heritage people always wanna know your ethnic background. Only, they don’t always ask it so nicely. It took me time to realize that I don’t have to convince them of the truth.
Whether they believe it or not it still is. I don’t have to show you my BIA card with my blood quantum or speak the language of my people. My involvement in my heritage or lack thereof will neither make my quantum decrease or increase. Whether my appearance matches the stereotypes that you are accustomed to see is not relevant to my existence. I don’t have to choose which one I want to represent because I represent them all.
